Ferran Torres is reportedly not interested in leaving Barcelona in the summer amid interest from Atletico Madrid.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Ferran Torres will not entertain a possible exit from Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The Spanish forward is a target for Atletico Madrid and a few Premier League clubs.
Ferran Torres joined Barcelona from Manchester City twelve months ago, hoping to kick-start his career. The Spaniard’s decision was somewhat surprising, considering his stature was growing at the Etihad. But moving to Barcelona has not worked as envisioned, as he has been a bit-part player for Xavi Hernandez.
The 22-year-old has started only nine of the 32 available games for Barcelona this season. But Torres has a decent tally of five goals and one assist in 1,009 minutes of game time. Meanwhile, the player’s reducing stock at Spotify Camp Nou has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish forward emerged on Atletico Madrid’s radar towards the end of last month. And the continued interest from Los Rojiblancos is hardly surprising. That is because Yannick Carrasco faces an uncertain future at the Civitas Metropolitano amid interest from several European bigwigs.
Interestingly, the Belgian international is a target for Barcelona. And Carrasco is prioritising joining Barcelona in the summer transfer window. And replacing the experienced wide man with a young and promising forward like Torres is an intelligent move. But Atletico Madrid might face competition from Premier League clubs for the Barcelona attacker.
However, the 22-year-old is not interested in leaving Barcelona and wants to fight for his place. But with Barcelona showing interest in reinforcing the attack, a summer departure might be ideal. In addition, the Catalan giants are ready to part ways with Torres in the summer transfer window. So the youngster is in a spot of bother.
It will be interesting to see if Atletico Madrid can tempt Torres with an attractive offer at the end of the season. For now, the Barcelona forward remains uninterested in departing from Camp Nou in the summer. Potential interest from Premier League clubs might also tip the balance of the scales.
