Napoli are not interested in selling star forward Victor Osimhen in the summer amid interest from Real Madrid and Arsenal.
According to a report by Fichajes, Real Madrid and Arsenal have received a major blow in their pursuit of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen. The Serie A club have made it clear that he is not for sale in the summer.
Victor Osimhen has been in sensational form in the ongoing season. His heroics in Serie A have resulted in a lot of interest from across the globe in acquiring his services. The Nigerian international joined the Serie A club back in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille.
Ever since his arrival at Napoli, the forward has been in sensational form. He has featured in 83 matches for the Serie A side and has contributed with 45 goals and 13 assists. In the ongoing season, he has showcased his true potential to the world.
The 24-year-old has played 21 matches in the ongoing campaign and has been directly involved in 21 goals. He has found the back of the net on 17 occasions and has four assists to his name. Osimhen is currently the leading goal scorer in the Italian top flight with 16 goals in 17 matches.
The Napoli striker has been on the radar of Real Madrid and Arsenal for a while but it looks like their pursuit will not be successful in the summer. Los Blancos are looking for a long-term replacement for their marksman Karim Benzema, who is 35.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking to add more firepower to their attack. They do have Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus but want an out-and-out goalscorer who can guarantee over 20 goals a season. Both the clubs were keen on signing the 24-year-old, but they will have to look for alternatives.
Napoli have made it clear that Victor Osimhen is not for sale in the summer. He has a contract with the club that ends in the summer of 2025. And with an ambitious project at hand, they do not want to let him go. The Nigerian forward currently earns €4.5 million per year, and Napoli are willing to increase his wages to ensure that he stays at the club.
Meanwhile, the Partenopei have a handsome lead at the top of the table. They are on course for their third Serie A title. They will be featuring in the Champions League next season. Everything at the club is moving in the right direction, and as a result, they will give it all to secure a new contract with the player. It will be interesting to see if and when he signs a new deal. But a summer departure seems unlikely.
