Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 22-year-old Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the summer.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of Crystal Palace’s centre-back Marc Guehi. The 22-year-old has proved himself in the ongoing season. He is amongst the best young defenders in the league and a lot of big clubs have their eyes on him.

The England international joined Crystal Palace back in the summer of 2021 from Chelsea U23. Ever since his childhood days, he was a part of the Chelsea youth academy. He came through their ranks and joined Swansea on loan twice, before making a permanent switch to the Eagles.

The England defender has made 65 appearances for Palace. He has been a livewire in the defence and has given quite a few remarkable performances. The former Chelsea player has also found the back of the net on four occasions.

In the ongoing season, Guehi has featured in 23 matches in all competitions. He has played in 20 out of the Eagles’ 21 league matches. The 22-year-old has proved himself in one of the toughest leagues. He is considered one of the best young defenders because of his recent performances for Patrick Vieira’s team.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is impressed by the young defender’s showing in the English top flight and wants to add him to his ranks in the summer. Spurs are in a spot of bother with regard to their defence. They lack quality as well as depth in that department and are willing to sign two defenders in order to sort out the situation.

The Spurs boss wants a young defender who can work as a long-term fix but has the quality start from the word go. Marc Guehi fits the bill perfectly but he won’t be a cheap option. Crystal Palace will try their best to keep the young England international at the club. But, an offer of around £45 million could tempt Vieira’s team into selling him.

Conte’s men can surely afford to pay the price that Palace desire for Guehi’s services. But, it will be interesting to see how they approach this situation in the summer. As of now, Palace have a tough few months ahead of them.

Firstly, they will hope to avoid any slip-ups and survive in the league. And, then focus on getting a new contract penned down with star player Wilfried Zaha whose current contract expires in the summer. Amidst all this, they will have to handle the interest from elsewhere in young Guehi.
