Barcelona winger Ansu Fati has been linked with a move away from the club, with Liverpool and Manchester United interested.
Ansu Fati has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs over the last few days and Liverpool have now joined Manchester United the race to sign the 20-year-old Barcelona ace at the end of the season, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Liverpool are in need of attacking reinforcements and they could certainly use a quality winger like Fati. But the Reds face intense competition from several clubs, including Manchester United, for the Barcelona attacker.
The 20-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Barcelona, and he has not been a regular starter for Xavi Hernandez. The youngster needs to play regularly to continue his development and fulfil his world-class potential. The player has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United.
Both clubs have been in touch with his agent Jorge Mendes regarding a summer move. However, Fati reportedly wants to continue at the Spanish club. And Barcelona do not have the intention of selling the player either. That said, sitting on the bench at a top club will only affect his development negatively. And he needs to move on in search of regular football.
Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah are the only reliable wingers at Liverpool right now. And Jurgen Klopp has had to field attacking midfielders as makeshift wingers quite often. Signing someone like Fati will add more quality and depth to the squad.
Furthermore, the Liverpool manager has a proven track record of nurturing talented young players into established superstars. And he could have a positive impact on the development of the Spanish international.
Fati was regarded as one of the most promising young talents to have come out of Barcelona’s La Masia academy. And he has all the attributes to develop into a world-class player. The 20-year-old has contributed with six goals and three assists across all competitions. And it remains to be seen whether Liverpool can convince Barcelona to sell the player to them in the summer.
The young winger has a long-term contract at Barcelona. And it will be interesting to see if they are willing to sell the player for a reasonable price in the summer. Liverpool are unlikely to pay over the odds for him, especially when their squad is in need of reinforcements in the other areas as well.
With clubs like Manchester United interested in the player, Liverpool might find it difficult to fend off the competition and sign Fati. The Red Devils need reinforcements in the wide areas as well, especially Antony and Jadon Sancho underperforming. Manchester United have more resources compared to Liverpool, and they will fancy their chances of signing the Barcelona prodigy.
