Tottenham are eyeing an emergency signing of Ben Foster, who is a free agent after hanging up his boots last summer.
According to Daily Mirror, Tottenham are eying an emergency goalkeeper signing, with Ben Foster their target. The north Londoners will have to acquire special dispensation from the Premier League to complete the signing after the severe injury to No.1 Hugo Lloris.
Tottenham reveled in the stunning victory over Manchester City at home in the Premier League on Sunday, which saw Harry Kane become their all-time leading goalscorer. The win came at a cost, as Hugo Lloris suffered a serious knee injury, which did not prevent him from finishing the match.
Further diagnosis and scans revealed the extent of the problem, with the former France captain now set to miss up to 8-weeks of action. The news will come at a bad time for Tottenham, who are preparing for their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash with AC Milan.
Despite an error-strewn season, Lloris is Tottenham’s undisputed No.1 between the sticks, and they may have a problem replacing him. Fraser Forster is the obvious choice to replace the Frenchman in goal. But the options behind him are underwhelming from Tottenham’s perspective.
They have 24-year-old prospects Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman as options. But neither goalkeeper has featured for the senior side. Meanwhile, Forster, 34, has played only once for Spurs in the Premier League in their 2-2 draw with Brentford on Boxing Day.

Meanwhile, Tottenham remain in the market for a long-term successor to Lloris, with Jan Oblak among the goalkeepers on their radar.
As it is only a ‘ back up ‘ position, why not use some of the talent we already have at the club.
