Chelsea discussing a new deal with Lewis Hall

Chelsea are ready to reward Lewis Hall with a new contract after the 18-year-old’s rapid rise into Graham Potter’s first-team plans.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea could offer Lewis Hall a new deal after the versatile 18-year-old’s rapid rise in the first team. The Cobham academy graduate’s current deal expires in 2025, but the Blues remains keen on handing him a long-term contract.

Chelsea have produced some brilliant talents over the years through their Cobham academy. Reece James, Mason Mount, Trevoh Chalobah, and Conor Gallagher have all come through the ranks and play for the current first team.

Then this season, we saw another rising star in versatile 18-year-old Lewis Hall. The academy graduate has featured in four starts for Chelsea after the World Cup as Graham Potter sought an internal solution to the problematic left-back position.

Nobody expected Potter to turn to the academy for solutions, and he brought in Hall. Senior left-back Ben Chilwell is yet to return from his injury, while summer arrival Marc Cucurella has underwhelmed since joining in a near £60 million deal from Brighton.

Hall took the opportunity afforded to him and shone in the left-back role. While Chelsea continues to endure disappointing results in the Premier League, the versatile 18-year-old has given them hope for the future.

In light of the massive spending spree the club have embarked on, Hall showed there are still massive talents available in the academy. Chelsea now want to reward the versatile 18-year-old with a new long-term contract to keep him at the club.

Hall’s current contract expires in 2025, but Chelsea’s offering of a new deal would drastically improve his pay package and years left.  He may not play more when Chilwell returns to action, but he could easily challenge the current left-backs for a role in the future.

Moreover, Hall is versatile enough to play in central midfield or the final third if required. Potter will look to mould the 18-year-old into a top-rated star of the future. He has the tenacity to perform at the highest level, and Chelsea would benefit from having him for the long term.

For now, Hall’s rise is rapid in the first team, and he could use a few loan moves to gain experience in the future. The versatile 18-year-old could have a great career at Chelsea in the short to long term.
