Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move away from Chelsea at the end of the season.
According to CaughtOffside, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be on his way to Major League Soccer after the end of the season.
The 33-year-old has dropped down the pecking order this season, and he has been a squad player under Graham Potter. Furthermore, the former Arsenal striker was recently left out of Chelsea’s Champions League squad and the player was left shocked and surprised by the decision from the club.
It Is evident that Chelsea do not view him as a key part of their plans, and it remains to be seen whether he can secure a move to MLS in the near future. Aubameyang has not been able to hit top form since his move to Stamford Bridge and he needs to leave the club in order to get his career back on track.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, there is interest from MLS clubs in the striker but he would prefer to stay in Europe for now. Apparently, Los Angeles FC are one of the clubs looking to sign the 33-year-old from Chelsea at the end of the season.
“MLS clubs are interested in Aubameyang but I’m told on the player’s side there’s no green light yet on this kind of solution, he prefers to continue in Europe as of now so nothing advanced at this stage.”
The Blues are hoping to bring in attacking reinforcements at the end of the season and Aubameyang is set to fall further down the pecking order if he stayed at the club. It makes sense for the player to move on in search of regular game time and the Blues will be keen to get his wages off their books as well.
The 33-year-old has impressed in the Premier League before with Arsenal but he is clearly struggling to replicate that form at Chelsea. A move away at the end of the season would be ideal for all parties and it remains to be seen where the 33-year-old ends up eventually.
Aubameyang is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors at the end of the season. And it remains to be seen whether he can prolong his career in European football with a summer transfer.
