Manchester United are considering a summer transfer move for 21-year-old Portugal striker Goncalo Ramos.
According to a report by Fichajes.Net, Manchester United are planning to sign Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos ahead of the next season. The 21-year-old is a part of their potential targets for the number nine position. The Red Devils have laid a strong foundation under Erik ten Hag and will now look to bring in more firepower to challenge for titles in the next season.
The Premier League giants have been doing wonders in the ongoing season. The new United boss has managed to turn around the club’s fortunes. The Red Devils are currently third in the league and are the only English team to be still alive in all four competitions.
The Benfica forward came into the limelight after his hat trick in the FIFA World Cup 2022 against Switzerland. He started ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and didn’t let the Portuguese national team feel their skipper’s absence.
Goncalo Ramos has come up through the ranks at Benfica. He has made a total of 87 appearances for the Benfica senior team. During his time at the club, he has been directly involved in 43 goals. In the ongoing season, he has been on fire.
The 21-year-old has featured in 28 matches and has 25 goals contributions. He has found the back of the net on 18 occasions and created the remaining seven goals. He has an eye for the goal and knows where to position himself inside the box.
Ramos’s contract at Benfica ends in the summer of 2026. With over 3 years left in his contract, it is going to be a tough task for the Red Devils to land him at the club. But, United have the resources to prise him away from his childhood club.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s unexpected departure from Manchester United left a huge void in the attack. Signing Wout Weghorst from Besiktas on a loan has helped them cope with that until the end of the season. But, they will have to land a striker who can help the club reach the top of European football.
They do have Martial but he has struggled with injuries of late. And, with Weghorst likely to return to his parent club in the summer. It makes perfect sense that Erik ten Hag is keen to bring in a new forward. As per reports, Goncalo Ramos is among the five forwards that United are currently keeping tabs on.
