Manchester United added Brian Brobbey to their list of potential striker targets for the summer window, as Erik ten Hag plans for a big window.
According to Fichajes, Brian Brobbey is a target for Manchester United in the summer, as Erik ten Hag remains keen to reinforce a key area. The Red Devils are not only intent on bringing a top-rated centre-forward but also want to improve depth.
Manchester United ended the January window rather quietly by their standards, bringing two players on loan deals. Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer arrived on temporary deals as Erik ten Hag sought short-term solutions to glaring problems in the attack and midfield, respectively.
Based on multiple reports, Manchester United seems to have huge plans for the summer. Ten Hag will likely urge the club to open their chequebooks to begin the next phase of their squad-building exercise. Chief among those is the need to sign a top draw centre-forward.
There’s talk of a big move for Harry Kane, although bringing Tottenham’s record goalscorer is no mean task. The lure of winning trophies is by far the biggest weapon Manchester United have in their locker. The acquisition would make them challengers.
Meanwhile, there’s also talk of a huge bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The indications are that Manchester United will focus on signing a main centre-forward. Ten Hag will also look to add quality depth to the position.
Wehgorst is unlikely to stay beyond the summer, and the same may apply to Anthony Martial, with his wretched injury record. Hence, Ten Hag will look at other options, including Goncalo Ramos, Mohammed Kudus, and Brian Brobbey.
The latter could become a realistic target for Manchester United, considering the others may want something other than secondary roles. Ten Hag knows what Brobbey’s all about, as he likes the player from his Ajax days. The 21-year-old Dutch striker played a crucial role in last season’s Eredivisie title win and remains high on the manager’s list.
Brobbey has played 57 games for Ajax since a transfer merry-go-around between the Dutch side and RB Leipzig. Since leaving the Eredivisie side on a free transfer, Ten Hag brought him back and re-signed him permanently. The 21-year-old Dutch striker scored 10 goals in Eredivisie from 19 games this season.
He is unlikely to become a first-choice striker by Ten Hag, but certainly, he could challenge for the position in the future. Ajax would demand a significant fee for the 21-year-old Dutch striker in the summer. That may be fine for Manchester United in their quest to add quality.
