Newcastle United have joined the race for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, who is being monitored by Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The richest club in world football, Newcastle United have identified Jude Bellingham as a transfer target for the summer of 2023. According to a report by Sport BILD, as relayed by Sport Witness, Newcastle will push for the signature of English international Bellingham.
The 19-year-old midfielder is one of the biggest prospects in world football. All the big teams across Europe would love to have him at their disposal. But, it will be interesting to see which team can acquire his services ahead of the start of the next season.
Bellingham might still be a teenager but what he offers on the pitch is way beyond his age. The Dortmund player is versatile on the pitch, he has the ability to lead by example. And, his ability with the ball is exceptional.
The English midfielder has made over a hundred appearances for the German side since joining them from Birmingham. In the ongoing season, he has played 24 matches and has been involved in 14 goals, scoring ten and creating the other four. At the age of 19, he has already been the skipper of Dortmund on numerous occasions.
Newcastle United are having a dream run in the Premier League 2022/23 season. They are currently third in the English top flight and are likely to finish in the top four. While their takeover has a lot to do with their performances. But, one cannot rule out the fact that they have been doing smart business in the transfer windows.
If Newcastle finishes inside the top four, they will be featuring in the Champions League next season. They will have to add more quality to their squad and signing Bellingham will surely bolster their squad. The English international’s signing will just be the start of what can follow. They have the financial backing to build a squad of world-beaters but it will all depend on where they finish in the ongoing season.
It won’t be a cakewalk for Magpies because European giants Real Madrid and Liverpool have been heavily linked with the midfielder. Both clubs want to sign the Dortmund midfielder in the summer of 2022. They will give it their all to land a player who is expected to become one of the greats of his generation.
Liverpool have had major issues with their midfield this season and the Reds need to sign a top-class player, especially with the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain moving on as free agents in the summer. Bellingham has been on the radar of Jurgen Klopp for a while and he could prove to be a superb acquisition.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid need to find a quality long-term replacement for players like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. The England international certainly has the potential to replace players like Modric in the long run.
