Manchester United were reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans on deadline day.

According to a report from The Independent, Manchester United have made an enquiry for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. But the Foxes’ asking price has been deemed too high by the Red Devils.

Midfielder Christian Eriksen has been ruled out for a number of months with an ankle injury. And Manchester United are looking to bring in alternatives now. The Red Devils have been linked with players like Ryan Gravenberch and Marcel Sabitzer as well.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decide to submit a concrete offer for Tielemans before the January window closes. The 25-year-old Belgian international has six months left on his contract with Leicester City.

So the Foxes might consider selling him this month in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer. The 25-year-old is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and could be an exceptional signing for Manchester United for a reasonable price. But the report claims that asking price for the player is too high.

Tielemans has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent months. And a move to Manchester United will be a tempting proposition for him. The 25-year-old will want to showcase his qualities at a higher level, and Manchester United could provide him with the platform to challenge for major trophies and perform in the Champions :eague.

The Red Devils are well-placed to finish in the top four, and they have done well in the domestic competitions so far. There is no reason why they cannot secure UEFA Champions League qualification and win a trophy this season.

Manchester United improved their midfield immensely with the signings of Casemiro and Eriksen in the summer. Adding Tielemans to that unit will only help them improve further and compete with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Belgian midfielder is well-settled in the Premier League and should be able to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford if the move goes through. It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can convince Leicester City to lower their demands and accept a reasonable fee for the 25-year-old before the January window closes.

Manchester United do not have any shortage of resources. But it seems that they are unwilling to pay over the odds for the 25-year-old midfielder.
