Inter Milan are keen on Harry Maguire and have enquired about the defender’s availability before deadline day.
According to Daily Mail, Inter Milan have enquired about Manchester United defender Harry Maguire. The Serie A giants are looking at defensive options to replace Milan Skriniar, who is edging closer to signing for PSG.
Harry Maguire’s Manchester United career took a nosedive after some inconsistent performances in the last year or so. He was part of Erik ten Hag starting lineups at the start of the season, but two disastrous results against Brighton and Brentford pushed him down the pecking order.
Ten Hag has since preferred to play Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane as his starting central defensive partnership. The manager prefers even Victor Lindelof in other games, thus pushing Maguire down the pecking order. Reports suggested Manchester United were considering selling him.
But ten Hag feels there is still a place for the defender in his team, and he could prove himself in the second half of the season. Manchester United will play plenty of games between now and May, including a possible run in the Europa League.
Maguire also shares the sentiment as he is prepared to fight for his place on the side. There were teams keen on the defender, including West Ham United. Now, Inter Milan have come up with an enquiry for the 29-year-old defender.
The Serie A giants eye the 29-year-old defender as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, who has agreed to join PSG in the summer on a free transfer. The Parisians want him to join now and continue to hold talks with Inter Milan to find a solution.
Inter Milan are open to the prospect of a deadline day departure but seek a replacement. Maguire is considered a viable option, but much will depend on Manchester United’s decision on the 29-year-old defender. They might consider their options if they receive a solid offer from the Serie A side.
