Everton and West Ham United have reportedly registered their interest in signing Union Berlin forward Sheraldo Becker.

According to Florian Plettenberg, there is movement in the race to sign Sheraldo Becker, with Everton and West Ham United coming forward with an interest in signing the Union Berlin hitman. The Hammers have even launched an enquiry over his potential availability for a deadline day move.

The 27-year-old winger is a product of the Ajax academy and has spent several years in Holland, playing for the likes of PEC Zwolle (on loan) and ADO Den Haag before earning a move to Union Berlin on a free transfer in 2019.

Now 27, Becker is in the best form of his career with the German outfit. In fact, the Surinamese international has been a driving force behind Union Berlin’s success this season, netting a very solid eight goals in 26 competitive appearances. In addition, providing six assists in that time also display his ability to bring his teammates into the attacking phase of play.

The Bundesliga outfit are presently second in the Bundesliga, one point behind league leader Bayern Munich. Furthermore, Union have advanced to the Europa League knockout stage, where they will face Ajax. This impressive goal return has not gone unnoticed on the continent, with clubs lining up to secure his services, especially from the Premier League.

Everton, for one, are in the market for a striker as they prepare for an ugly relegation battle. Former Burnley boss Sean Dyche has been appointed as the new Everton manager. And signing a forward is a priority for him in order to use his renowned 4-4-2 system.

As such, the Toffees have been strongly linked with players like Kamaldeen Sulemana, Viktor Gyokers, Che Adams, and Michail Antonio since Dyche took over the charge at Goodison Park. Sheraldo Becker appears to be the latest to join the long list.

If Everton are to dig themselves out of the relegation battle that they are embroiled in, they could do with some more attacking firepower. So Becker would be an excellent acquisition, particularly because he would be able to gel immediately with someone towering like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, utilising his pace and sharp runs in behind the defences.

It has been claimed that West Ham are also chasing the 27-year-old attacker, who can play both as a second striker and a winger. The Hammers are looking to offload out-of-form striker Michail Antonio this month, with Nottingham Forest, Wolves, and Everton all plotting moves for the veteran striker.

Becker has emerged as a like-for-like option to replace the Jamaican striker for David Moyes, who wants more striker options despite already signing Danny Ings. Becker is valued in the region of £13 million. And it has been previously reported that he is open to a move to the Premier League. With the Bundesliga outfit set to announce the arrival of Isco today, a departure for Becker appears very likely.
