Fulham are reportedly eyeing a £20 million plus deal for Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solehkol on Twitter, Premier League high-flyers Fulham are eyeing a deal for Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.

The 24-year-old is a key player for the Blades and has enough experience in the English game to boot. Berge arrived at Bramall Lane from Genk in 2020 and has since made 87 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals and assisting nine more.

29 of those appearances have come in the English top flight, which augurs well for Fulham. More so, the Norwegian international also has UEFA Champions League experience and will add quality and depth to the Cottagers’ midfield roster.

Marco Silva’s side have exceeded expectations this season and could even end up earning themselves a European spot come the end of the season. Bringing in the right players this January will certainly make life easier for Fulham in the second half of the campaign.

The midfield remains an area that the Londoners are seeking to reinforce and have already begun talks for Brazilian midfielder Andre. However, he is not the only player on the list as they are now preparing a bid in excess of £20 million for Berge.

A central midfielder with excellent defensive instincts, Berge is calm on the ball and has the technical prowess to play in a pass-and-move system. Fulham adopt an attacking style of football and will benefit from the addition of a player who can hand them a semblance of control in the middle of the park.

The 24-year-old has also attracted attention from Chelsea and Liverpool as the January transfer window draws to a close. The Blues are now going all in for Enzo Fernandez, while Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the Reds will not be making any more signings this winter.

This paves the way for Fulham to make their move. Newcastle United are also keen to sign Berge. And beating them to the punch will be nothing short of a coup for Silva and co. With Sasa Lukic also on their radar, it promises to be a busy few days at Craven Cottage as the January transfer window draws to a close.
