Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Ben Jacobs has told Caught Offside Christian Pulisic has been linked with clubs like Manchester United and Newcastle United as well. However, the 24-year-old winger is keen on moving to a Serie A club.
Apparently, Pulisic has asked his compatriot Weston McKennie about Serie A giants Juventus. And it will be interesting to see if he can secure a move to the Italian top flight at the end of the ongoing season.
“Christian Pulisic is technically available on the market, though Graham Potter has said on the record that he won’t leave in January, and the fact that he got injured until February doesn’t help matters,” Ben Jacobs said.
“Pulisic didn’t desperately enjoy working under Thomas Tuchel, so a fit Pulisic under a new manager might be able to shine at Chelsea. It could be that this injury will prove a blessing in disguise for Chelsea, because it gives them.”
“There are admirers of course, Newcastle and Manchester United enquired about him in the summer, with the latter quite keen on a loan, but I’ve always been told that Serie A is the more likely destination for Pulisic.”
“Juventus have considered him in the past and he even spoke to Weston McKennie about the club, and more recently AC Milan have been linked as well. But we’re looking at a summer exit if Potter is true to his word.”
Pulisic joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund, and he has had a mixed spell at the London club so far. The young American winger managed to impress initially. But he has failed to hold down a regular starting berth in recent months. He has had his fair share of injury problems as well.
It makes sense for Chelsea to cash in on the player permanently in the summer. The Blues have already improved their attacking department considerably with the savings of Joao Felix, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke. The three arrivals will certainly push Pulisic further down the pecking order, and he needs to leave for the benefit of his own career.
The 24-year-old is entering his peak years and cannot afford to sit on the bench at Stamford Bridge. Juventus are in need of attacking reinforcements and could offer the American international regular game time. And recent reports have pointed towards the Serie A giants plotting a part-exchange deal to land the Chelsea attacker.
Meanwhile, he is not the only Chelsea player being linked with a move to Italy. Apparently, Hakim Ziyech is keen on ending his time at the Premier League club as well, and he has been linked with AS Roma. Pulisic has the potential to develop into a top-class player. And if Juventus can sign him for a reasonable price at the end of the season, the move could look like a bargain in the long run.
