Real Madrid will prioritise signing Denzel Dumfries, valued at €40 million by Serie A giants Inter Milan, in the summer.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Denzel Dumfries is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are prioritising signing the Dutch right-back in the summer. And Serie A giants Inter Milan will demand €40 million to part ways with the player.
Denzel Dumfries has established himself as one of the best right-backs in Serie A since joining Inter Milan from PSV Eindhoven. The 26-year-old encountered teething problems at San Siro. But he has gone from strength to strength since establishing a foothold at Inter Milan.
The Dutch right-back is enjoying a solid 2022/23 season, chipping in with two goals and three assists in 23 outings. And Dumfries’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.
Real Madrid will be eager to sign a right-back in the summer transfer window. That is because Dani Carvajal has endured a dramatic regression in the last couple of years. With a few injury issues also creeping in, the Spaniard is no longer a dependable figure for Real Madrid for an entire season. So it behoves Los Blancos to scour the market for a right-back.
Meanwhile, Lucas Vazquez has blown hot and cold, while Alvaro Odriozola is out of favour with Carlo Ancelotti. Several right-backs, including Jeremie Frimpong, have thus emerged as viable targets for Real Madrid. And Dumfries is also an option worth considering amid Inter Milan’s precarious financial situation.
The report claims that Real Madrid will prioritise signing Dumfries in the summer transfer window. And Inter Milan’s asking price, worth €40 million, might not pose a problem for the reigning La Liga champions. For now, the Dutchman remains on Real Madrid’s radar, with Carlo Ancelotti demanding his signature.
Apart from Frimpong and Dumfries, Pedro Porro is another top target for Real Madrid. But it will be interesting to see if the Merengues approach Inter Milan with a bid worth €40 million. It certainly looks like the 26-year-old might play his last game in Serie A later this year in May.
