Harry Kane could extend his stay at Tottenham and is open to discussing a new contract which could be a severe blow to Manchester United.

According to a report by The Athletic, Harry Kane could agree to a new contract to extend his Tottenham Hotspur stay after the closure of this current transfer window. Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the English striker.

The 29-year-old will turn 30 next summer, and his value could take a steep turn if he maintains his current position. Tottenham have lost the momentum in the Premier League, and a fierce top-four battle could be on the cards.

The player has already entered the last 18 months of his current deal. And irrespective of their recent form, things could turn out to be positive as the player has hinted at his intention to extend his stay beyond the current season.

Erik ten hag brought in Wout Weghorst as a stopgap fix to his plans. And the Dutchman bound to add one marquee striker to his squad. Kane is regarded as one of the most feared forwards in the European circuit. And the prospect of having the player at Old Trafford could excite the Manchester United supporters. Recent reports have claimed the 29-year-old is open to joining Manchester United.

But recent developments have not been very kind to them. And if the player does put pen to paper on the dotted line, Manchester United could be forced to look elsewhere. Despite edging towards the end of his peak years, Kane has not shown a sign of fatigue and tiredness and has unarguably been the leader in goalscoring in the Premier League.

Manchester United are believed to be preparing a grand offer behind the scenes for the English striker, who has also been targeted by Bayern Munich. But former Bayern president Uli Hoeness recently insisted the amount needed to finance the deal would be too much for the German giants.

“He’s a great player, but that’s an order of magnitude. Manchester City got out at 140, 150 million euros. I can’t imagine that these are amounts that Bayern Munich want to or can pay.”

It remains to be seen how things pan out for both clubs as it could be a huge occasion for both clubs. For now, Kane is open to signing a new contract with Tottenham instead of moving across the Premier League to Manchester United.
