Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech has been linked with a move away from the club this month, with Everton showing interest in him.
According to a report from Daily Mail, Premier League side Everton are keen on signing Hakim Ziyech in a late move this month. The Chelsea playmaker is also the subject of interest from Serie A giants AS Roma.
The 29-year-old Chelsea attacker has been a squad player for Graham Potter this season, starting just four games in the Premier League. Ziyech proved his quality in the recently-concluded World Cup with Morocco, and he deserves to play more often.
It will be interesting to see if the Moroccan playmaker can secure an exit from Stamford Bridge before the January transfer window closes. Serie A giants AC Milan and AS Roma are interested in signing the player as well.
Chelsea have strengthened their attack significantly with the signings of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix this month. They should look to let the 29-year-old leave so that he can get his career back on track.
Meanwhile, Everton could certainly use someone like him. The Toffees are currently 19th in the league table, and their attack has been abysmal all season. No Premier League club have scored fewer goals than Everton this season, and Frank Lampard needs to add more quality to his attacking unit if the Toffees want to stave off relegation.
To that end, Arnaut Danjuma is on the verge of joining Everton this week. Ziyech will add some much-needed creativity in the final third, and his arrival could benefit players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Neal Maupay, apart from Danjuma.
However, AS Roma also interested in his services, the Chelsea playmaker might not be too keen on a move to Goodison Park. The move to the Premier League has not been ideal for the Moroccan international, and he could prefer to leave England. It remains to be seen whether Everton can convince the player to move to Goodison Park.
However, the presence of Frank Lampard at the helm could help convince the midfielder. Ziyech was a key player for Lampard during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge, and the former Chelsea midfielder remains a huge admirer of the 29-year-old. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few days and whether the Toffees can get a deal across the line.
