Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are tracking the progress of Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer and might be planning a move.
As per JeunesFooteux, both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Rennes attacking midfielder Lovro Majer and could approach with a formal offer this month.
United have had their shortcomings in the recent past but the arrival of Ten Hag has managed to bridge the gap between the club and the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Red Devils have had positive results against all their nearest opponents and the manager doesn’t really want to stop this organic growth. His choice of players has been quite good and he is eyeing more bodies to cope with the pressure of mounting fixtures.
Majer arrived in France from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb last term and had an instant impact with 14 goal contributions in the Ligue 1. But this season he has failed to make his mark. That said, clubs are still circling around for his signature.
But the Rennes manager doesn’t want to lose the prized young prospect so easily and wants to invest more energy and time on the pitch to get the best out of Majer. Tottenham are also seemingly heading towards a move for the player.
Antonio Conte lacks that kind of a player at his disposal and their recent struggles have amplified the need for a creative presence in the middle of the pitch. Majer will be able to provide that breakthrough in the final third and he won’t command a high fee compared to the other players available on the market.
Rennes paid to the tune of €12 million for his services and would demand a fee in the region of €40 million for him. A technically gifted player, Majer can be equally receptive with his defensive attributes whenever needed.
Capable of playing in multiple midfield positions he could provide a big boost to United’s hopes as the club recently lost Donny van de Beek for the remaining part of the season with a horrific injury. Rennes should brace themselves as they could be flooded with offers in the coming days.
