Tottenham Hotspur are tracking the development of Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert.
As per French outlet Jeunes Footeux, Tottenham are monitoring Rennes left back Adrien Truffert. The 21-year-old has been a consistent performer for the French club for the last few seasons.
Spurs were supposed to be busy in the transfer market but they are still figuring out potential solutions. Antonio Conte might have sufficient funds to spend but the Italian manager is yet to pinpoint his transfer targets.
Bringing in new wingbacks have always been his priority and Truffert could be a good choice. Ivan Perisic will turn 34 next month and Ryan Sessegnon hasn’t managed to maintain the required level.
Truffert was unlucky not to receive a call-up from the French side in the World Cup. But given his tender age, he is set to be one of the very best at his position if he maintains his performance and continues to develop.
He has only been capped once by his national side but will attract more attention in the coming days. His attacking ability would suit Conte’s project as he already has assisted five goals in the French top flight.
Truffert will not be a priority transfer for the North Londoners but Perisic will be entering his final year of the contract. The Croatian international is unlikely to be rewarded with a new deal unless there is some drastic improvement in his performance.
The 21-year-old came through the Rennes academy and has been with the club since his inception in professional football.
Truffert could be lured to London with a sum of £17.5 million and the Premier League could be the ideal platform to showcase his talents. Spurs will get a major shakeup this month following their harrowing loss at the hands of Manchester City in the Premier League.
Conte is slated to make a number of changes to the squad and a number of players could face the axe. Truffert could enter the fray but a deal in this transfer window seems unlikely.
