Newcastle United have reportedly lodged an offer worth €16 million to sign Brazilian wonderkid Matheus Franca.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United have submitted a €16 million bid to sign talented young Brazilian midfielder Matheus Franca from Flamengo this month.

Matheus Franca is highly rated around Europe, and he has been linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid as well. The Merengues have recently sent scouts to monitor the player. And it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid are prepared to follow up on their interest with a concrete offer like Newcastle United.

It will be interesting to see if the Brazilian club are willing to accept Newcastle’s offer and let the player leave in the next few days. The 18-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder and can operate as a winger as well. He could prove to be a solid long-term investment for Newcastle United, who have offered €16 million for him.

The Magpies have Improved their squad considerably since their takeover while showing a willingness to invest in top young talents. It is clear that Newcastle are looking to build for the future sustainably, as also suggested by the interest in Ivan Fresneda. And a signing like Franca could prove to be a wise investment in the long term.

A €16 million fee could look like a bargain if the 18-year-old manages to adapt to English football and fulfil his potential at Newcastle. Playing alongside better players in England and working under a manager like Eddie Howe will only accelerate the youngster’s development and help him achieve his potential in the coming seasons.

The 18-year-old is a prodigious talent who has the ability to develop into an important first-team player for Newcastle. The Magpies could definitely use creativity in the middle of the park. And Franca could address those problems in the coming seasons.

The opportunity to join a Premier League club could be an attractive proposition for the Brazilian wonderkid. And it remains to be seen whether he decides to push for a move to Newcastle United in the coming weeks.

Franca would have seen a number of talented young South American players head to Europe in recent months. And he will be hoping to follow in their footsteps as well. Real Madrid recently reached an agreement to sign Endrick, and Manchester City are thought to be closing in on the Argentine midfielder Maximo Perrone.

South America has always been a hotbed of prodigious young talents. And it seems that top European clubs are determined to snap up the best young talents from Brazil and Argentina right now.
