Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur could be set for an intense battle in the pursuit of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez in the summer.

According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will maintain a strict watch on Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. The Nerazzurri want €100 million in exchange for the striker.

Inter Milan defeated AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup, with Lautaro Martinez’s goal proving to be the winner. The Argentine failed to make a mark at the 2022 FIFA World Cup for his country. But he is seemingly back to his old self, scoring goals after goals.

The 25-year-old has been involved in 13 goals in the Serie A so far. But according to the standards set by the player, he will have a lot of room for improvement. The striker has remained on the watchlist of a number of clubs. And Inter should be mindful of their doings in the near summer as they might lose another highly-rated player from their folds.

Manchester United have gone from strength to strength under the stewardship of Erik ten Hag. But their rebuilding is still under process, and they will undergo another major overhaul in the summer transfer window.

They have brought in Wout Weghorst on a temporary contract. But ten Hag is eyeing a frontline striker to lead his line from next season. He has inherited a fine crop of attackers, and the players benefit from the arrival of a massive presence in front of them. Manchester United have also shown interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Tottenham are sweating on the long-term future of Kane, who has not really managed to build something on from his ravishing form. Silverware has not been a distinct possibility, and the English striker will be turning 30 this year. Present scenario could force the player to alter his decision, and the North Londoners could be forced to put their star striker on sale.

Lautaro Martinez could be his readymade replacement. And given his young age he could be ready for a more brighter future. Inter’s current financial condition means they cannot really reject offers exceeding €100 million. And both Tottenham and Manchester United do have the financial muscle to afford that kind of money.
