Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing English winger Raheem Sterling from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal are eyeing up a move for the Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old joined Chelsea at the start of the season in a deal worth around £47.5 million. However, he has had a difficult time at Stamford Bridge so far, scoring just four league goals for the Blues.
Chelsea have had to dip into the January transfer window to improve their attack. And they have recently splashed out on the Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk. Interestingly, the Blues beat Arsenal to the Ukrainian winger’s signature.
Sterling is expected to drop down the pecking order after the arrival of the 22-year-old. And it will be interesting to see if the England international is keen on moving away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Arsenal need to add more depth in the wide areas, and they could use someone like Sterling especially after missing out on Mudryk.
The England international is well-settled in the Premier League and has proven himself at top clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City in the past. Joining Mikel Arteta’s side could help him get his career back on track next season.
Sterling is versatile enough to play anywhere across the front three, and it will be interesting to see if the Gunners can agree on a fee with their London rivals. Chelsea will hope to recoup most of what they paid for the England international. And it remains to be seen whether Arsenal are prepared to pay the asking price.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are currently fighting for a place in the top four and are unlikely to sanction any departures this month. Graham Potter will not want to weaken his squad, and it remains to be seen whether Sterling can make a definitive impact during the second half of the campaign and nail down a place in the starting lineup.
