For a long time, Chelsea seemed like his ideal destination. There’s a long history between the Blues and Rice, for the England international was part of the Cobham academy. He looked primed to join some of his old friends at Stamford Bridge, but things might have changed a bit.
For one, Chelsea are having a terrible season, as they are tenth in the Premier League table. If Graham Potter’s side continues with their dismal displays, soon the Blues might be out of contention for European places. At present, they are nowhere near a Champions League place.
Hence, Rice could become wary of joining them and could open the doors for a team like Arsenal to swoop in. The Gunners are reportedly interested in the England international.
