Newcastle United are keeping an eye on Stoke City’s talented 17-year-old starlet Nathan Lowe.

According to Daily Mail, Premier League side Newcastle United are interested in securing the services of 17-year-old Stoke City sensation Nathan Lowe.

Emboldened by middle eastern investment, the Magpies are once again emerging as a pre-eminent side in English football. The first team has seen a cosmetic restructure of sorts with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak among others brought in.

However, it is not just the senior side that the club is trying to invest in. Newcastle’s new youth recruitment chief Paul Midgley is keen to attract the best young talents around and has now zeroed in on Lowe.

The youngster has turned out for the Potters’ youth and reserve sides this season, amassing 13 appearances across all competitions. During that time, he has scored seven goals and made one assist. There is certainly enough in his game to suggest that success in the Premier League could be on the cards.

The teenager is yet to experience senior football and is admittedly raw around the edges. Having represented England at the youth level, Lowe could take his development a notch or two higher should he move to St. James’ Park.

The Magpies look set to contend for long-term success and have the facilities on and off the field to develop promising talent. It is a far cry from the Bet365 Stadium as Stoke continue to flounder in the lower leagues. The teenager is held in high regard at the club and penned a three-year contract only last year.

Stoke, for their part, should be keen to keep their best talents at the club. While the route to the first team might be easier should he stay put, there is every reason to believe Lowe will outgrow the club’s ambitions should he continue to develop as expected.

Moving to Newcastle can allow him to work with a better setup while also learning from a higher calibre of players. The Magpies will have gotten a first-hand experience of Lowe’s abilities when the club’s Under 18 side fell to their Stoke counterparts earlier this season. The 17-year-old scored on the night and will have certainly caught the eye.

Eddie Howe admitted earlier this year that he is keen for Newcastle United to develop their youth talents. The Magpies are also keen to raid arch-rivals Sunderland for 15-year-old Chris Rigg
