Arsenal have contacted Real Betis to enquire about the potential availability of Luiz Henrique, but the Spanish side are not interested.

According to ABC Sevilla via Sport Witness, Arsenal are interested in signing Luiz Henrique. The Premier League giants has reportedly contacted Real Betis to enquire about the 22-year-old winger and his availability as they continue the search for wide attackers.

Arsenal will likely step up their efforts in the next two weeks of this January window to sign at least one wide attacker. They have been in the market for a player in that profile as Mikel Arteta seeks quality cover for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

They had chased Mykhaylo Mudryk, but the winger is seemingly heading to Chelsea after a deal with Shakhtar for about €100 million was agreed upon. Losing out on the Ukrainian will shock the Gunners and Arteta, who had wanted him for many months.

Irrespective of the Ukrainian’s capture, Arteta wanted to cover the right side. He has been looking for a player to deputise for Saka in the cup and European games. Arsenal have the option of Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson, but both have suffered injuries this season.

Arsenal were recently linked with Hirving Lozano, but Arteta would like to bring a player he can develop in the mould of how the club wants. Now, they have eyes for Real Betis’s 22-year-old winger Luiz Henrique. The Brazilian has had a terrific start to his European career since joining the club in the summer.

Henrique only cost around €8 million, and Betis signed him on a six-year deal. Hence they remain in a relaxed position over the 22-year-old winger and could look to develop his talents further. However, manager Manuel Pellegrini is pleased with the attacker’s progress and would urge the club to keep hold of the Brazilian.

Arsenal have reportedly contacted Betis to enquire about the winger’s availability and the deal’s financial aspects. However, the Spanish side have reportedly indicated their willingness to hold on to Henrique and possibly see him grow at the club.

The 22-year-old winger has the potential to become a big star and, in turn, will let Betis achieve a far better financial package from interested suitors in the future. Hence, any move away could be postponed until at least the summer window, when Arsenal might return with another approach.

For now, Betis will focus on developing his talents and hope he continues his impressive start to life in Spain. As for the Gunners, they might continue their search in the hope of signing the right player, especially considering they have a title challenge on their hands.
