Everton and West Ham United have enquired about the availability of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay in this winter transfer window.

As reported by 90min, Manchester United rejected approaches from Everton and West Ham United as both clubs are interested in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Scottish midfielder has lost his place in the team following the arrival of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. McTominay did appear in a number of matches at the start, but Casemiro’s growing influence in the middle of the pitch hasn’t helped his chances.

The 26-year-old burst onto the scene during Jose Mourinho’s tenure and since then has been a steady presence in the squad. But he has never looked like a player who could make a big difference and has always been that stop-gap player who has the pedigree to provide support in emergency situations.

With the fixtures piling up in recent weeks, the midfielder could finally get his long-overdue chance to impress the gaffer. Donny van de Beek’s injury could be a blessing in disguise for the player as United are now short in the midfield department.

Everton already snatched James Garner from the grasp of Manchester United in the summer and had hoped to lure away another player from the Old Trafford outfit.

But the Red Devils are unwilling to let go of the midfielder as Erik ten Hag does not want any disruptions in his planning. Manchester United have been on a winning spree, and weakening the squad would only dent their ambitions.

As for West Ham, it has been a pretty disappointing campaign for the Europa Conference League participants. They are currently flirting with the relegation zone and need some favourable results in their next few matches to shrug off their issues.

Tomas Soucek hasn’t been that consistent while rumours have intensified regarding the transfer of Declan Rice. In such conditions, an additional midfielder would always be helpful as the London giants are not very well-stacked in that department. A move in January seems pretty unrealistic and a transfer next summer could be more likely.
