Tottenham Hotspur must fork out £25 million to secure the services of Alex Scott

According to talkSPORT, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have been aware of what they will need to fork out in order to land Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott.

The Englishman spent time in his youth at the Southampton and Bournemouth academies before signing for Guernsey in 2019. Scott stayed at the Isthmian League side for just a year before signing with Bristol City in 2020.

The 19-year-old has since developed into an impressive player for the Championship side. He has so far made 71 appearances for the Robins, scoring four goals and assisting seven more. While the numbers could certainly do with a boost, there is enough to suggest that Scott has what it takes to succeed in the English game.

His performances have attracted attention from several Premier League sides, namely Tottenham, Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers. While Spurs are the standout team on the list, a move to the N-17 is far from a given.

Spurs could do with a midfielder who can play several positions and is also good enough to be considered a long-term option in the squad. However, unless Bristol City lowers their asking price, a deal could prove difficult.

A technically proficient player with good passing range, Scott is defensively adept and can hold his own in the midfield. He usually keeps things simple and can be seen as a facilitator of sorts for the more dynamic players around to thrive.

The 19-year-old is hot-headed and will need to tone down his in-game discipline. A return of nine yellow cards in 29 outings across all competitions is not a good look and is something that needs to be worked upon. The Premier League is not for the faint-hearted and Scott will need to work on this aspect of his game.

Moving from the Championship to the Premier League is a difficult task unless the player is prepared to take his game up a notch. Moving to Tottenham would certainly aid Scott’s progress as a professional footballer. However, for now, a deal is far from done.
