West Ham United are looking to sign Youssef En-Nesyri from La Liga club Sevilla before the January transfer window closes.
According to a report from Spanish publication AS, as relayed by Sport Witness, West Ham United have now come forward with a new offer to sign Youssef En-Nesyri this month. And they are looking to agree on a loan deal with La Liga club Sevilla with an obligation to buy the player permanently for a fee of around €25 million at the end of the season.
The report claims that the Spanish outfit are satisfied with the offer, which is not surprising, considering their asking price. But En-Nesyri is not keen on leaving them to join West Ham. He was heavily linked with the move to West Ham in 2021 as well but opted to stay in Spain back then.
It remains to be seen whether the Hammers can convince him to swap La Liga with Premier League football this month. The Moroccan international has had a difficult season with Sevilla so far, and a fresh start could be ideal for him.
The 25-year-old has scored just five goals across all competitions for Sevilla and he is yet to find the back of the net in La Liga. It will be interesting to see if he can get his career back on track at West Ham if the loan-to-buy deal goes through.
The Hammers are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, especially with summer signing Gianluca Scamacca struggling to find his feet in English football. West Ham have scored just 15 goals in 18 league matches and they are 17th in the table. David Moyes will have to add more goals to his side if the Hammers are to secure safety from relegation.
En-Nesyri has the technical and physical attributes to thrive in the Premier League, and David Moyes’s direct style of play could suit him as well. Signing the player on loan this month would represent an impressive bit of business for the London club. And they will be able to use the funds to strengthen the other areas of their squad as well.
Moyes is under tremendous pressure to turn things around, and it remains to be seen whether West Ham can steer clear of the relegation zone in the coming weeks. They are currently level on points with 18th-placed Everton and are only above the drop zone on goal difference. A club of their stature will be expected to perform way better. And En-Nesyri can potentially galvanise West Ham.
