Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 20-year-old English attacker Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven.
According to a report from The Times, Chelsea are considering a move for 20-year-old English attacker Noni Madueke, who has impressed with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.
The Blues are looking to improve their attacking options this month, and they have already brought in the likes of David Fofana. Chelsea are closing in on completing a deal to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid as well. It remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with PSV for Madueke.
The 20-year-old is highly rated in Europe and has a big future ahead of him. The English attacker is naturally a right-sided winger and would add pace and flair to the Chelsea attack if he joins the club this month. Graham Potter needs to freshen up his attacking options, especially with players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling, and Kai Havertz struggling to hit top form.
Chelsea will be desperate to secure a top-four finish this season and need to improve their squad to secure Champions League qualification. The Blues are currently tenth in the league table, ten points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United. It remains to be seen whether PSV Eindhoven are prepared to let Madueke leave the club this month.
The Dutch giants have already sold Cody Gakpo to Liverpool earlier this month and might not be keen on weakening their attack any further. Furthermore, Madueke needs to play regularly at this stage of his career. And Chelsea might not be able to provide him with that opportunity at Stamford Bridge.
He will be competing with a number of players at the London club and should look to decide on his next move carefully. The 20-year-old is a mercurial talent who has the tools to develop into a top-class player.
But he cannot afford to sit on the bench at a big club right now. The English attacker should seek game-time assurances from Chelsea before moving to Stamford Bridge. That said, Potter did well to nurture young players at Brighton & Hove Albion, and he could help Madueke fulfil his potential at Chelsea.
