Wout Weghorst is pleading with Besiktas to let him join Manchester United, with Burnley negotiating to find an agreement.

According to The Times, Manchester United have proposed a loan deal to Burnley for Wout Weghorst, who is currently plying his trade for Besiktas on a loan deal. And the Dutch striker is keen on joining the Red Devils this month.

Erik ten Hag has earmarked the former VfL Wolfsburg striker as a solution to his current crisis in the final third. And the Dutchman has asked the Manchester United management to hand his compatriot to him over for the remainder of the season.

The 6ft 6in striker can pose a towering presence in the final third, which the Red Devils have been missing so far. Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure opened the door for an out-and-out number nine. But neither Marcus Rashford nor Anthony Martial has made it count down the middle.

Weghorst has failed miserably during his time at Turf Moor. But ten Hag believes he can turn the 30-year-old into a more lethal striker. The former Ajax manager has worked on Rashford’s work ethic and a number of aspects. And it is suggested the Manchester United manager can replicate the same with the 30-year-old.

But Burnley did not include a recall clause in his loan deal. And Besiktas have refused to let the player leave so far. The Dutchman appeared to bid goodbye to the Turkish club’s supporters after scoring the winner against Kasimpasa. And the experienced striker is keen on joining Manchester United. But manager Senol Gunes explained the situation.

“Weghorst is an important player for us. It is not enough to say goodbye to the audience. He also needs to talk to the club. I have heard of such a development, but it is not clear. I’ll consider [him] leaving after I talk to both him and the club.”

The management is quite impressed by his winning mentality and it could help in bringing the best out of other players surrounding him. Martial’s injury-riddled season could prove to be quite fatal for Manchester United. And the arrival of Weghorst could ease the burden of Rashford who has been in ravishing form for the Premier League giants.

Weghorst has been pushing to get the deal over the line, and Manchester United feel a deal can definitely be reached within the next few days. But if a deal does not work out, the Red Devils might turn to other targets, including Vincent Aboubakar.
