Newcastle United and West Ham United will have to shell out £15 million if they want to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz in January.

According to the Sun, Blackburn Rovers will demand at least £15 million from interested parties including Newcastle United and West Ham United for Ben Brereton Diaz.

Diaz smashed the goalscoring charts last season with 22 goals in the second division but he hasn’t hit the desired mark this season. He still has managed 9 goals in 26 Championship matches and will have the scope to match his previous season’s numbers.

West Ham have had a disappointing season so far as they have been embroiled in a bottom-of-the-table fight. They are yet to drop down into the relegation zone but David Moyes is under severe pressure to deliver and has identified the 23-year-old as his priority target.

The Hammers do need some inspiration in the final third and the Chilean international has the necessary firepower to push them towards safety. His current contract will run down next summer but irrespective of his contractual situation Blackburn have demanded a straight fee of £15 million to part ways with him.

They are currently third in the Championship and the prospect of gaining an automatic promotion is still there. Newcastle United have also targeted the Chilean international as a part of their winter rebuilding mode.

The Magpies have been in fine form having already breached the top four in the Premier League. But Eddie Howe still wants significant changes to improve his current gameplay and Diaz could be the cheapest alternative available in the market.

Alexander Isak hasn’t been available for injury issues throughout the season but that hasn’t had any effect on their intent. But with the fixtures piling up ahead they want to have more options and Diaz could come in handy.

It could be a severe blow to Blackburn’s promotional aspirations if they somehow lose their star striker. But they have shown desperation to sell their player for a particular amount as they are not ready to lose their player for free.
