Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez, valued at £15 million by AZ Alkmaar.

According to a report from talkSPORT, Leeds United are hoping to sign Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar this month. The 19-year-old Is valued at £15 million, and it will be interesting to see if Leeds United can secure his services before the January transfer window closes.

The defence has been a major concern for Leeds this season, and they have conceded 31 goals in 17 Premier League matches. Jesse Marsch will have to improve his defensive unit to beat the drop this season. The Whites are currently just two points clear of the drop zone, and they cannot afford to take any risks during the second half of the season.

The club hierarchy must look to back the manager in the transfer market if Leeds want to preserve their status as a Premier League club next season. Meanwhile, the Hungarian left-back has been outstanding for AZ Alkmaar this season, and he has three goals and six assists to his name across all competitions.

Apart from being a reliable defender, Kerkez is equally effective going forward, and he will add a new dimension to the Leeds attack. Leeds have been using the Dutch defender Pascal Struijk as their left-back this season. But he is naturally a centre back and his contributions going forward have been largely underwhelming.

Marsch could certainly do with a natural full-back on his side, and the 19-year-old has the potential to develop into a key player for Leeds. The reported £15 million asking price could prove to be a bargain if the youngster manages to adapt to the Premier League quickly.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an attractive proposition for the player. And a transfer to Leeds would be a major step up in his career. Kerkez will be able to showcase his potential at a higher level and playing against the top-class attackers in England will only accelerate his development.

Meanwhile, Leeds should also look to improve their attack before the January transfer window closes. And the Whites have shown interest in Bamba Dieng, among others. As for Kerkez, it will be interesting to see if the Hungarian left-back joins Leeds anytime soon.
