Arsenal have been tracking the progress of Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, also a target for Liverpool and Manchester United.

According to a report by Foot Mercato, Arsenal have been credited with a serious interest in Montpellier sensation Elye Wahi. Manchester United and Liverpool are also claimed to be avid admirers of the 20-year-old French striker.

Arsenal have not felt the need to replace the goals of Gabriel Jesus, who has been on the sidelines and whose return will take a few months. Goals are flowing freely, with Mikel Arteta’s side looking unstoppable.

But the Arsenal manager does not want to take any chances and has been looking at potential candidates to strengthen his attack. The Gunners have sent scouts on several occasions to watch Elye Wahi, and reports are pretty encouraging.

The 20-year-old has found the net seven times in 16 Ligue 1 appearances. But an offer from Arsenal is not imminent as it seems as if they want the player to continue his development on French soil.

They have been heavily linked with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk. But the two clubs are yet to reach a conclusion regarding the transfer fee and time is running out pretty fast.

Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez’s missed chances proved too costly for Liverpool against Brentford, and Jurgen Klopp might have started to find an alternative route to push Nunez. Wahi could be an ideal player for the Liverpool manager. But having already spent the big bucks for Cody Gakpo, they will not be able to bring in another forward unless there is a drastic last-minute emergency.

Manchester United have been crying for a proper centre forward, and Wahi could be one of the options. Erik ten Hag has already made it pretty clear they would go for players who would only match their criteria. And the financial aspects also need to be taken care of.

A three-pronged fight is unlikely as Arsenal seem ahead in the queue. Wahi was involved in 12 goal contributions and is expected to eclipse that feat this season. Eddie Nketiah has emerged as a sufficient cover for Jesus, but the Gunners would need more reinforcements to sharpen their attack.
