Arsenal are inching closer towards sealing a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk as they have tabled a new offer for the winger.
As per Caught Offside, the Gunners are the favourite to land the player in the January transfer window. The Ukrainian is believed to be the top priority for Arsenal next month.
The 21-year-old has been in red hot form and reiterated his desire to ply his trade in the Premier League. The Gunners got the better of Brighton & Hove Albion in a tightly contested affair and have gone 7 points clear at the top.
But manager Mikel Arteta’s main focus is to keep up the momentum in the latter part of the season and that’s why he is pushing for the move. Personal terms have already been agreed as the winger is set to sign a five-year deal if both clubs reach a consensus regarding the transfer fee.
Shakhtar’s chief executive Serhiy Palkin confirmed they are in continuous dialogue with Arsenal but the final price is yet to be decided.
“Talks for Mudryk are on. We receive offers but not the ones we would like to see on our table. I’ll speak again to Arsenal, so yes, we are open to discussing fees and ideas. If we will agree, then let it be so. If we will not, then let it be another time. Now, literally in five minutes, I will have a new phone call conversation with Arsenal for the Mykhaylo Mudryk deal.”
Gabriel Jesus’ injury has pushed them to the periphery and they cannot afford to lose their advantage in the tile race. Mudryk has been praised for his proficiency in the Champions League. In the Ukrainian top flight, the forward has lit up the league with 13 goal contributions in 12 matches.
A potential transfer fee of €100million is mooted for Mudryk’s arrival but the Gunners believe they can thrash a deal for a much lesser sum. The player’s preference is to join the North London club and Arteta would be hoping the player brings the winning luck with him as they will be needing it.
