Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Mykhaylo Mudryk, a target for Arsenal.

According to a report from The Guardian, Arsenal have been trying to sign 21-year-old Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk in January. But Chelsea could look to hijack their bid to sign the talented winger.

Mykhaylo Mudryk has been in outstanding form for Shakhtar Donetsk this season, and he has ten goals and eight assists across all competitions. It is hardly a surprise that Chelsea are looking to bring in a quality winger given the form of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech.

Furthermore, Raheem Sterling have not been at his best since arriving at Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old winger could prove to be a quality long-term addition for Chelsea, and it remains to be seen whether they can beat Arsenal to secure his services.

Mudryk has been linked with a move to Arsenal for months now, and the player is reportedly keen on joining the Gunners. However, it will not be a surprise if Chelsea turn his head with a lucrative financial offer.

Co-owner Todd Boehly was very active during the summer transfer window, and the Blues are expected to strengthen their squad heavily in January as well. Chelsea have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks, and signing Mudryk could transform them in the final third.

The versatile winger is capable of playing on both flanks and will add goals and assists to the side. Furthermore, the 21-year-old is far from his peak and is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. Graham Potter did well to improve the young players at his disposal at Brighton & Hove Albion. And he could have a similar impact on the development of Mudryk as well.

The 21-year-old has a contract with Shakhtar until 2026, and Chelsea will have to pay a hefty price if they want to secure his services. It will be interesting to see if the Blues can beat Arsenal to the Ukrainian attacker’s signature. Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign Enzo Fernandez and Benoit Badiashile this month as well.
