Middle East giants Al Nassr are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona veteran Sergio Busquets a few days after landing Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Al Nassr will look to sign Sergio Busquets in the January transfer window. The Saudi Arabian giants hope to bring the Barcelona veteran to the Middle East as early as January. And they recently also signed Cristiano Ronaldo in a major coup.

Sergio Busquets has carved a lasting legacy during his stint with Barcelona. The veteran Spanish midfielder graduated from the Catalan club’s famed La Masia academy. And he has been one of the best holding midfielders in the world in the last decade and a half. But the player faces an uncertain future at FC Barcelona in the New Year.

The 34-year-old, who has turned out nearly 700 times for Barcelona, has entered the last six months of his contract. And recent reports have suggested that Busquets might leave Barcelona as early as January. If that happens, the Spaniard will be the second high-profile departure midway through the season after Gerard Pique.

Widespread reports have claimed that Busquets has been considering leaving Barcelona in the summer. And Al Nassr will look to secure the services of the veteran Spanish midfielder whenever he calls time on his stint with Barcelona. The report by Mundo Deportivo suggests that the Saudi Arabian giants have already submitted a lucrative offer to the player.

Al Nassr recently completed a sensational coup by signing Cristiano Ronaldo. And the Saudi Arabian giants have handed the Portuguese international a dizzying contract to make him the highest-paid player in the world. They also intend to table an appealing deal to Busquets to bring him over from Barcelona.

Saudi Arabia’s decision-makers are focusing on the project to bring the World Cup to the country in 2030. With that in mind, the top clubs are signing household names, with Al Nassr also bringing in David Ospina and Luiz Gustavo. They are also keen on signing N’Golo Kante next year.

As for Busquets, it is unclear if he wants to join the Middle East giants in 2023. A move to MLS might also be on the cards if he leaves Barcelona. Meanwhile, the Catalan giants are in the market for his successor, with Martin Zubimendi their top target.
