Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Leicester City’s promising winger Harvey Barnes in the winter transfer window.

As per Football London, Tottenham Hotspur could launch a surprise raid at Leicester City to acquire the service of Harvey Barnes. He has been a permanent fixture in Leicester’s starting lineup.

It has been a decent season for the winger who has recorded six goals so far. Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici is a huge fan of the player and wants to land him at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

The youngster could be seen as a readymade replacement for Lucas Moura. He is yet to open his account in the top flight and he is seemingly edging towards leaving the club.

The Brazilian could be offloaded to make way for Barnes who could be used in multiple positions. The English winger can operate from both flanks and is also useful from a number of midfield positions.

His numbers might not be that great but he has churned out consistent performances and this could be an indication of a very bright future. Leicester won’t be under severe pressure to lose him cheaply as the player has a pretty lengthy contract running down till 2025.

Antonio Conte is keen to make some changes in January and bringing in another winger would be his top priority. Richarlison has been sidelined for a lengthy period while Bryan Gil could be loaned out to offer him game time.

Son Heung-min hasn’t been that prolific this season and Conte could search for some much-needed inspiration in the final third. With Manchester United breathing on their shoulders they need to put up a good fight for the remainder of the season.

With the Champions League also in the offing, they will have to cover a lot of games and Barnes could be really useful in that. A fee in the region of £60 million might be needed as the Foxes will use his contract length to command a hefty fee for the player.

Spurs have been linked with several attackers and it will be interesting to see who they finally select.

Harvey Barnes isn’t a bad player at all but if Spurs have real ambition we should be aiming a lot higher than Harvey Barnes, It would be a typical Levy signing that will win us nothing.
