Liverpool are not keen on a deal for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez in January as their priority target has been Borussia Dortmund’s, Jude Bellingham.

As per eminent reporter David Lynch, Liverpool are not interested in Enzo Fernandez and will wait for the perfect opportunity to orchestrate a transfer for Jude Bellingham.

Fernandez has suddenly entered the fray as several clubs are said to be gearing up offers in order to land the talented midfielder. The 21-year-old had a fantastic World Cup as he helped Argentina lift the trophy after a gap of 36 years.

His excellence hasn’t gone unnoticed and his stay at Benfica could be shortlived. However, his mammoth €120 million release clause could be a stumbling block for any party.

Chelsea appear to be ready to fulfil Benfica’s demand and could raid the Portuguese side in January as they are adamant to ease their current crisis. Despite investing pretty heavily they are still short of reaching the desired level and co-owner Todd Boehly could hand Graham Potter his preferred targets.

Liverpool already sealed an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for the permanent transfer of Cody Gakpo and it could be difficult for them to fund another high-budget move next month.

Benfica manager Roger Schmidt gave a major hint when he was asked about Enzo’s future.

“I can’t reveal those conversations.

“When I talk to the players, these are things I keep to myself. What I can say is what I’ve already said. We all know what football is like.

“These young people have opportunities, and it’s not just about Enzo. If they have opportunities, they have to make decisions, and I respect them.

“I can advise them, but they only have one career. If I can convince them or influence them in a certain way, I try to do it, but I accept their decisions”.

Liverpool’s interest in Jude Bellingham has further intensified following the World Cup and the Reds will definitely fancy their chances next summer. Dortmund are bracing for another busy summer as they could lose another one of their key players in successive seasons.
