Liverpool are ready to submit an offer for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, who could be a free agent next summer.

As per Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool are exploring options and they are believed to be interested in Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar. The Reds have already initiated their January shopping by agreeing on a deal for Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.

Inter are locked in an extended contract negotiation with Skriniar as both parties have failed to reach an agreement so far and the Italian side could be forced to cash in on the player in January.

The 27-year-old has been ever-present for the Nerazzurri across all competitions but his potential availability has alerted several clubs across countries.

Inter are still looking to make him stay at San Siro beyond this current season. But time is running out as the player will be able to entertain offers from other clubs and can sign a pre-contract with any foreign side.

Skriniar is the ideal modern defender who is extremely comfortable on the ball and his passing range is quite impressive. He boasts of a high level of interception and clearances in every match and his partnership with Virgil van Dijk could pose a serious threat to the Premier League attackers.

Journalist Graeme Bailey explained more about the situation.

“Inter still believe that they will convince him to stay but he will very soon be able to field those pre-contract offers.

“Paris Saint-Germain were always and still are, but now all the Premier League top clubs are interested – the chance to land one of the world’s best defenders at 27, does not come along too often.

“So even someone like Manchester City, who don’t have a new centre-half at the top of their wanted list, are ready to put an offer to him. But so are Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle.

“The battle for Skriniar will be fascinating if he decides to leave.”

It would be hard for the Reds to bring in another player next month. However, if the player remains available for a cut-price fee, they might take a risk by taking a good hit to their summer transfer budget.
