Arsenal and Newcastle United are reportedly chasing the signature of Real Valladolid’s highly-rated full-back Ivan Fresneda.

As per Il Bianconero, Arsenal and Newcastle United ate targeting a move for Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda. The highly-talented Spanish prodigy has already created a storm in the footballing circuit. And Valladolid will demand around €30 million to part ways with him.

Ivan Fresneda only made his debut in La Liga for Valladolid in September and has already caught the attention of some big clubs. The 28-year-old has not been able to nail down a permanent spot in the starting lineup but has already featured six times in the Spanish top flight this term.

Arsenal are believed to have a pretty strong interest in the teenage prodigy. But their fullback department is quite congested. Mikel Arteta has mostly preferred Ben White, who has had a good time as a makeshift right back.

Apart from White, the Arsenal boss also has Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares at his disposal, leading to a quite complicated situation. But White’s service could deem to be futile in the near future as he is more natural as a centre-back. Meanwhile, Cedric has been linked with a move to Fulham.

There might be a void in near future, and the Gunners want to sort out that mess before any other club snatches the player. On the other hand, Newcastle United’s recent performances have provided them with more confidence, as they are fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Their win over Leicester City allowed them to have a firm grip on their top-four hopes. And Eddie Howe wants to cement their hopes with the help of this winter transfer window. Newcastle United have already been linked with a lot of players, and it is suggested their interest in the young defender is quite serious.

Despite being well stocked in the right-back section, they want more options going into the season. And Spanish prodigy Fresneda has emerged as a likely option. And Arsenal and Newcastle will need to fork out €30 million to sign the 18-year-old.

But they do not seem to agree with his €30 million price tag and are ready to offer much less for his service. It remains to be seen whether both clubs indulged in a transfer battle in January or they choose to wait till the summer.
