Ac Milan are very keen on signing Chelsea attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech in the January transfer window.
According to a report in Spanish outlet Fichajes, Hakim Ziyech has emerged as a priority target for AC Milan in the next transfer window. Ziyech has not had many opportunities for Chelsea and is one of the favourites to leave Stamford Bridge next month.
Ziyech remains unscathed during three managerial changes at Chelsea. But he has not managed to nail down a permanent spot since his much-hyped transfer to West London from Ajax back in 2020.
His intensity has not dropped and his performance in the recently concluded World Cup was pretty evident of his quality. Ziyech played a pivotal part in Morocco’s dream run in the tournament and even captained his country in the third-placed playoff match against Croatia.
Milan have long been on the tail of the 29-year-old who is still regarded as one of the most capable players who can change the course of the match single-handedly.
The Rossoneri ideally want to sign an attacking midfielder who is also comfortable playing on the right side and Ziyech fits the profile perfectly. But his salary demands could be an issue if a deal is to be done.
The Moroccan international has the desire of earning more than €6 million but the Italian giants are currently operating on a strict budget and won’t be able to offer the package. It remains to be seen whether the two parties can reach a consensus as Milan are also plotting a move for AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo who offers a similar kind of service.
Chelsea are set to be one of the busiest clubs in January as there are supposed to be several incomings and outgoings at the club as Graham Potter will have another chance to rejig his existing squad. But the manager has already warned the player that he won’t give assurances regarding a place in the team depending on his World Cup form.
“We know his qualities, we like him as a player, he plays between the lines with fantastic quality as we saw in the World Cup.
“At Chelsea there are always good players who aren’t in the starting XI and have to be patient. I was delighted for him, kept in touch with him over the World Cup. Delighted for him that he got the game-time, delighted for him that he helped his team, he’s a good guy and he’s got quality.”
Chelsea are unwilling to sanction a loan move as they would only accept a permanent proposal for the attacker.
