Newcastle United have emerged as a surprise suitor for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho in the winter transfer window.

As per Daily Mail, Newcastle United are chalking an ambitious move for Jorginho from the grasp of Chelsea. The Italian’s current contract will expire next summer.

Newcastle might be about to enter the most defining January transfer window in their club history. The Magpies leapfrogged Manchester City to second place following a win over Leicester City and there could be some very encouraging moments in the offing.

Eddie Howe wants to ensure he has the proper squad to deal with adversity for the remaining part of the season and hence he will be demanding a few players to suit his criteria next month.

They already had a busy summer and their wealthiest owners will bankroll another transfer window to get their beloved club back on track once again. Jorginho has been key to Chelsea’s plans but the Blues have failed to secure his future in the long term.

As of now the player will be a free player next summer and will be able to discuss fresh terms with other clubs in January. But Newcastle are willing to offer a compensation package to acquire his service.

Except for Bruno Guimaraes, Howe currently doesn’t have the deepest playmaker who could tick the tempo with his vision and Jorginho could be able to step up in that position.

The 31-year-old is still regarded as one of the most tenacious defensive midfielders in the business and he would certainly match Newcastle’s current progress. It is not clear whether the West London giants are ready to sanction his departure in the midst of the season.

They have been linked with Declan Rice who could be his like-to-like replacement. But the English midfielder’s chances of arriving at Stamford Bridge are very slim in winter and Chelsea will go all out for his services if the situation permits.

Newcastle have been linked with a plethora of players as they are seemingly keen to compete for the Premier League title with Arsenal and Manchester City and to serve that purpose they would need quality players.
