Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United could submit an offer to explore the possibility of bringing Jonathan David from Lille in January.

Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United could submit an offer to sign Jonathan David from Lille in January. According to Fichajes, the three clubs are chasing Jonathan David ahead of the January transfer window. The Premier League trio could make concrete approaches to Lille to understand the details of a possible transfer, with the striker likely to cost more than €60 million.

Jonathan David has had a fantastic season with Lille after reaching double digits in goals. The Canadian striker was hoping to have a good World Cup, but his nation crashed out early. He barely had any impact during the group stages, and he could now switch the attention towards club football.

David’s performances for Lille have seen many top sides court the striker. Much of the interest has come from the Premier League, with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United keen on signing him. Clubs from Spain have also had glaring looks, but England may appear as the striker’s preferred destination.

The Ligue 1-based striker could be the subject of approaches from the Premier League trio, as each of those sides are looking for a new striker. David’s physicality, speed, and clinical finishing could benefit either team. Those teams could make a firm offer to test Lille’s resolve in the coming days, with the forward keen to depart the French giants.

If Arsenal are serious about signing a replacement striker for Gabriel Jesus, then David becomes an option for Mikel Arteta. The market is not full of prolific goalscorers, although the Gunners are unlikely to sign someone by paying over the odds. David, for instance, will likely cost more than €60 million.

Meanwhile, Manchester United could consider signing the Ligue 1 striker due to their need to bring in a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. They might have wanted Cody Gakpo, but the PSV talisman is joining Liverpool in January. Erik ten Hag could look at the Lille star but will remain wary of his growing price tag.

Finally, Newcastle United are keen on bringing in attacking reinforcements ahead of January. The Magpies climbed up to second in the standings after beating Leicester City, as Eddie Howe wants players to improve the squad. They could see themselves in a possible title race but need the right players to build momentum.

Signing a striker and a wide attacker are vital as Newcastle remains linked with several options. David could also be seen as a long-term option for the club, as he could also provide competition to Callum Wilson.

While David remains keen on leaving Lille in January, there are question marks over Premier League clubs paying up Lille’s asking price. These sides could sit and negotiate the price down, but the Ligue 1 outfit may not accept a fee below the €60 million mark.
