Arsenal set to extend the contract of Charlie Patino

Arsenal youngster Charlie Patino will remain at the club till 2025 as the Gunners have triggered an extension clause in his contract.

According to the Evening  Standard, the promising midfielder will be staying at the club for at least until 2025 as the club have used their option to trigger a contract extension clause.

The midfielder already made his senior debut for the Gunners and even made it more memorable by netting against Sunderland in the Carabao Cup last December. The talented academy product has been plying his trade at Blackpool on loan for this campaign and has been instrumental for them, scoring two goals and assisting two so far.

Blackpool manager Michael Appleton heaped praise on the player and he believes the midfielder has all the ingredients to turn out to be one of the very best in the coming years.

“I’d like to think progression-wise he’s learnt a lot.

“He’s certainly developed already in a short space of time.

“There’s parts of his game that people probably questioned – even at a very young age – whether he could cope with it, and obviously the physicality side of it was probably one. I think he’s dealt with that really, really well.

“I think he is far more competitive than what people give him credit for. He’s had to play in two or three different positions and had two or three different roles in terms of what we want from him. He’s enjoyed that, he’s stepped up and taken the responsibility at a very young age.

“I think both ourselves and Arsenal are delighted with Charlie. I think Charlie is in a good place and he’s looking forward to the games coming up.”

Patino has been a subject of interest from Barcelona but it seems the Spanish giants might have to wait a bit longer to entice the player to Spain. The North London side are pretty convinced about him being the future of the club and they are ready to sit down with his entourage to discuss a more feasible deal which could see the player extending his stay at the Emirates by a few more years.
