Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Brazilian attacker Tete in January.
According to 90min, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Tete in January. The Brazilian attacker is unwanted at Lyon, and parent club Shakhtar Donetsk are seeking a sale of the 22-year-old.
Tete has proven an effective signing for Lyon since joining the club. The Brazilian attacker joined the Ligue 1 outfit following FIFA regulations suspending the contracts of players playing for Ukrainian teams.
The Shakhtar Donetsk star found the opportunity to join Lyon and has excelled during his spell in France. Under former boss Peter Bosz, Tete amassed five goals and three assists to cap a good season personally.
However, Lyon decided to replace Bosz with former France and PSG boss Laurent Blanc. The new manager wants to take the club in a new direction which does not include Tete in his plans. He does not count on the Brazilian attacker anymore and is open to him leaving soon.
Shakhtar Donetsk, who remain Tete’s parent club, are open to opportunities to sell the player elsewhere. The Ukrainian outfit are willing to sanction another loan deal with an option/obligation to buy after the season. The Brazilian attacker has six months left on his original deal, thus ramping up the pressure to sell him now.
A host of Premier League clubs have been offered the chance to take Tete on board ahead of the January window. Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United can take the Brazilian attacker on board as his Lyon stint draws to a close.
Previously West Ham United have been interested in the Brazilian attacker, although that seems to have cooled down. Meanwhile, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United could add attacking reinforcements ahead of January; hence, Shakhtar are placing a bet on one of them picking this star up.
Tottenham and Arsenal are keen on players that could add quality attacking depth to the squad. They have other priority areas to focus on. But Tete could be taken up as an opportunistic signing considering the financial implications of the deal.
He could prove an effective option for the north Londoners, who have a healthy contingent of Brazilian stars in their squad. Whether Mikel Arteta or Antonio Conte sees Tete as an effective signing remains the question. He could add to the quality and help Arsenal and Tottenham achieve their respective objectives.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United are also among those being offered the Brazilian attacker. The Magpies remain in the market for a versatile attacker. Current star Allan Saint-Maximin has urged the club to sign Marcus Thuram. But Eddie Howe could also consider Tete an option.
The financial aspects of the deal surely make the Brazilian an attractive prospect. However, any club signing the attacker will look closely at what he offers to the team, and only then will they make a final decision.
