Malang Sarr is considering an exit from Chelsea in January and could terminate his loan spell at Monaco to facilitate a move.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Malang Sarr is assessing his options and is believed to be interested in a move away from Chelsea. The 23-year-old joined Monaco on a season-long loan this summer but could decide to get his stint cut short in an order to find a new club.
Sarr joined from Nice on a free transfer in 2020 but has hardly been provided game time to prove his worth. He has been unutilized since then and already served a successful loan move at Porto.
But he is not getting ample game time in Ligue 1 this season and his agent Federico Pastorello insisted the player could prepone his Monaco exit amidst some offers from Italy.
“He is a boy I would see very well in Italy.
“He had already been very close [to joining an Italian club].
“He was one step away from an agreement with Torino, but while we were negotiating the Chelsea opportunity came up.
“That opportunity was immediately seen by the boy as an incredible chance for his career and he took it, I understand that.
“But I repeat, for me, the Italian league would be the ideal one for him.
“I won’t hide the fact that AC Milan also followed him for a long time: with Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini I discussed it a lot when his contract was expiring, and they could have signed him.
“At Milan he would have found an easier path than the one he had at Chelsea.”
Sarr’s Chelsea contract expires in 2025 and the Blues might opt to sell him permanently next month as the defender is not likely to be in Graham Potter’s plans who also has another young player Wesley Fofana in his ranks.
Another former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori made it pretty big since arriving at AC Milan and Sarr could be hoping to emulate his antics. But Monaco do have the option to buy the player permanently after this season and it could make things difficult for an interested party.
