Chelsea formulate plans to replace N’Golo Kante and Jorginho

Chelsea have already started formulating plans to replace the likes of N’Golo Kanté and Jorginho.

According to a report from Give Me Sport, Chelsea are now eyeing potential replacements for the two midfielders, who are expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

Jorginho and Kante will be free agents in the summer and Chelsea have not managed to agree on a contract extension with either player.

Speaking to GMS, Simon Phillips said: “Chelsea want two new midfielders and they want two new midfielders who specifically can play in the six position, whether that be as a lone defensive midfielder or part of a double pivot, depending on what formation Chelsea line-up with.

“But they definitely want two new midfielders purely because of the situations with contracts with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. Both at the minute look like they could leave as free agents”.

The Italian international has been linked with a move back to Serie A, and it will be interesting to see if he decides to secure a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club next month.

Jorginho will be able to negotiate a free transfer to foreign clubs when the transfer window opens in January.

The 30-year-old midfielder has been a key player for Chelsea since joining the club from Napoli. He has helped them win a number of trophies and his departure will certainly come as a blow for the Blues.

On the other hand, Kanté is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation, and he has been an exceptional servant for Chelsea since joining the club from Leicester City.

The 31-year-old is expected to move on at the end of the season and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Chelsea will have to invest considerably in the midfield in order to replace the two top-class players, and it remains to be seen whether Graham Potter can strengthen his side adequately.

The Blues will be hoping to challenge for the league title next season, and they must look to address their midfield problems in order to compete with clubs like Manchester City.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has been quite active in the transfer market since taking over the club, and he is expected to spend heavily in January and at the end of the season as well. Chelsea have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent months and it will be interesting to see who they bring in to replace the two players.
