Arsenal have enquired about Nicolo Zaniolo’s availability as the 23-year-old Italian international’s future at Roma remains uncertain.

According to Roma Giallorossa, Arsenal remains interested in Nicolo Zaniolo and have enquired to understand the 23-year-old’s situation. The Italian international and Roma are yet to agree on a new deal, with salary demands hindering discussions.

Nicolo Zaniolo could become a solid opportunity for clubs in England as the attacking midfielder is yet to sign a new deal with Roma. There are issues with the club that the two parties cannot agree on, which includes what the player demands in wages.

Roma are yet to give a definitive answer to Zaniolo over his demands of €4.5 million per year. There are doubts about whether the Italian giants will accept the request, which could put the midfielder on the market. In January, the 23-year-old Italian international will have 18 months left on his deal.

The January window could also represent the best opportunity for Roma to get a good sum for the midfielder, who they currently value at €50 million. However, the interested English teams are unlikely to pay up such an amount, with Arsenal and Tottenham reportedly keen.

Arsenal were expected to make an offer of around €25 million recently, but those might have been rumours. The Gunners are expected to enquire about his situation and look to move in January.

Any potential transfer is not simple, as Roma will look for the best value possible in this window. Tottenham are also keen on the midfielder, as Antonio Conte reportedly asked the club to explore the opportunity with Zaniolo.

However, Arsenal has emerged as a top contender in recent weeks, and Mikel Arteta could see Zaniolo as an opportunistic signing. The 23-year-old Italian international could become tempted by the Premier League club’s interest.

Arsenal currently have Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira in the attacking midfield position, but Zaniolo is quite a versatile player who could slot in slightly behind or ahead. Arteta would see the 23-year-old as a signing that could immediately elevate their squad quality.

Roma will be reluctant to let him leave in January and could make attempts to extend his deal. The player could be open to staying if his salary demands are met, although if Arsenal were to approach, things could drastically change against Roma.
