West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic from Serie A club Torino.
According to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Wests Ham United have been offered the chance to sign 26-year-old box-to-box midfielder Sasa Lukic by the Serie A club Torino. Apparently, Torino are interested in signing West Ham United attacker Nikola Vlasic, and they are hoping to use Lukic in a deal to bring down the asking price.
Vlasic is currently away on loan from the Premier League club, and it will be interesting to see if the Hammers are willing to let him leave permanently at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Lukic has been a key player for club and country over the past year and could be a quality addition to David Moyes’s midfield at West Ham.
Star midfielder Declan Rice has been linked with a move away from West Ham at the end of the season. So Moyes will need to bring in a quality replacement if the English international decides to call it quits at the London Stadium. The Serbian international has been a key player for Torino since joining the Serie A club in 2016 and could prove to be a useful addition to the West Ham squad.
Lukic has been in impressive form this season, scoring four goals across all competitions, and he would add creativity and drive in the middle of the park. Furthermore, the 26-year-old Serbian international will help out defensively as well and could be the ideal partner for Tomas Soucek next season.
West Ham certainly have the finances to pull off the transfer. And the fact that Torino want to sign Vlasic will only help them negotiate a reasonable deal that suits all parties.
Lukic has proven himself in Serie A over the years, and he will be tempted to try out a new challenge now. A move to the Premier League will be an attractive proposition for the player, and joining West Ham would be a step up in his career.
The 26-year-old has the technical attributes to succeed in English football, and it remains to be seen whether he can finalise a move to the London club in the coming months. And while Manchester United and Leeds United are interested, a deal involving Vlasic could tip the scales in West Ham’s favour.
